Collection consists of correspondence among Cockrell, Robert Selph Henry, Albert H. Allen of Chicago, and Norma M. Davis of Troy, S. C., relative to Henry's "The Story of the Mexican War" and the Palmetto Regiment Flag that is alleged to have been the first flag from the U. S. to wave over Mexico City, along with a blurb from the dust jacket and a review of the book from the JOURNAL OF SOUTHERN HISTORY. It also consists of an undated "Otto Eisenschiml's Brief"; an article on James K. Polk; and a clipping entitled "Montgomery Blair's Bilious Boom" from THE WEEKLY WORLD (N. Y.) of Dec. 17, 1879, attached to a letter of Apr. 27, 1952.
